SponsorAFamily.org (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the Platform”) exists to connect families in need with donors who want to make a meaningful difference. To maintain trust, transparency, and safety for everyone, all families using the Platform must follow the guidelines below.
1. Eligibility Requirements
To create a family profile on SponsorAFamily.org, you must:
- Be a real individual or family experiencing genuine financial hardship
- Provide accurate and truthful information during onboarding
- Be located within the United States
- Be at least 18 years old or represented by a legal guardian
We may request additional information to verify eligibility.
2. Accuracy and Honesty
Families are responsible for ensuring that all information submitted is accurate, complete, and truthful. This includes:
- Your family story
- Your financial needs and goals
- Your location
- Your photos
- Your updates
Providing false, misleading, or incomplete information may result in suspension or removal of your listing.
3. Profile Content Standards
Your family profile must follow these content rules:
A. Allowed Content
- Personal stories written in your own words
- Authentic photos of your family or situation
- Clear explanations of your financial needs
- Updates about progress or changes in your situation
B. Prohibited Content
- Stock photos or images taken from the internet
- Inappropriate, graphic, or offensive content
- False claims or fabricated stories
- Requests for illegal activities or prohibited items
- Harassment, threats, or abusive language
4. Use of Funds
Funds received through SponsorAFamily.org must be used for legitimate needs such as:
- Food and groceries
- Housing and utilities
- Medical expenses
- Transportation
- Childcare or essential family needs
Misuse of funds may result in removal from the Platform.
5. Updates and Communication
Families are encouraged to provide updates to donors and the community. Updates help maintain transparency and build trust. Examples include:
- How donations helped your family
- Progress toward your goals
- Changes in your situation
Updates should be honest, respectful, and appropriate.
6. Prohibited Behavior
The following actions are strictly prohibited:
- Creating multiple profiles for the same family
- Impersonating another person or family
- Pressuring donors for additional funds
- Attempting to contact donors outside the Platform
- Misrepresenting your needs or circumstances
- Engaging in fraud, scams, or deceptive practices
Violations may result in immediate removal and reporting to appropriate authorities.
7. Reporting and Review
Users may report any family listing they believe is inaccurate, misleading, or inappropriate. Reports are reviewed internally and may result in:
- Requests for clarification or documentation
- Temporary suspension of the listing
- Permanent removal from the Platform
We do not guarantee any specific outcome from a report.
8. Removal from the Platform
We reserve the right to remove or suspend any family listing at our discretion, including for:
- Violation of these guidelines
- Suspicion of fraud or misrepresentation
- Failure to respond to verification requests
- Inappropriate or harmful behavior
Removal decisions are final.
9. Privacy and Safety
Families should never share sensitive personal information publicly, including:
- Full home address
- Social Security numbers
- Bank account information
- Private medical details
We encourage families to protect their privacy and safety at all times.
10. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Family Guidelines as needed. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of the page. Continued use of the Platform means you accept the updated guidelines.
